2019 Nissan Pathfinder Review & Comparison at Larry H. Miller Nissan Corona in Corona, CA

The 2019 Nissan Pathfinder: Versatility is in its DNA!

While some are content with the efficiency and style of a sedan or hatchback, others need something a bit bigger in a crossover SUV. However, not all SUVs are considered alike and while some may offer flexibility in their seating, they may fall short in their powertrain. Likewise, a midsize crossover may have a powerful engine and off-roading credibility but falls dramatically short in terms of interior space and versatility. Then there is the 2019 Nissan Pathfinder, a comfortable mid-size crossover SUV with three rows of available seating and a robust engine performance that is built for taking the whole family places efficiently, with some extra capability in towing, in case you need to bring a boat or other trailer with you.

This mid-size crossover first hit the scene in 1986, where it was modeled with parts from the Nissan hardbody truck, eventually evolving from a compact SUV into the midsize crossover that it exists as today. Currently in its fourth generation, the 2019 Nissan Pathfinder comes available in a wide selection of trim levels and is available in 10 different colors.

Go Further and Drive with Confidence!

Rather than an offering an intense, roaring engine, or forcing you to choose between the capable or fuel-efficient engine models, the standard powertrain of the Pathfinder stands somewhere in the middle and delivers strong capability with surprisingly good fuel economy, for a larger mid-size crossover. The 2019 Pathfinder is powered by a 3.5-liter Direct injection Gasoline (DIG) V6 engine which delivers 284 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque. The engine comes paired with an easy-to-use XTRONIC® continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) which automatically shifts gears based on your driving habits to maintain a smooth acceleration whenever you first start driving. This powertrain system enables the new Pathfinder to tow up to 6,000 pounds, perfect for boat trailers, jet skis and other cargo trailers you might have need of.

You might think that the Pathfinder is like your typical SUV, thus, is only street-worthy and not an optimal choice for off-road adventures. However, once again, the Nissan Pathfinder proves itself capable of virtually any driving challenge with its available Intelligent four-wheel drive (4X4), through Nissan Intelligent Mobility™ (NIM). Once the snow starts to fall, you will not need to put your pathfinder in the garage as the intelligent 4X4 system is designed, provided the right tires, to take on many different tougher challenges ahead. The system puts control in your hands with many selectable driving modes, which you can select at your leisure via a knob on the center console. When the dial is in "Auto Mode," the system intuitively monitors road conditions to deliver the traction needed to maintain optimal balance, but when you flip the knob over to the "4WD Lock" setting, it maximizes traction at all times to help you navigate through the tougher roads ahead. If you simply wish to enjoy a leisurely cruise down a smoother road, the knob also has a "2WD" setting, allowing the 4X4 system to use torque power more conservatively by maintaining front-wheel drive.

A Flexible Interior with Room for Cargo, Passengers, and Fun

Whether you seek a large SUV for the whole family to share or you find yourself requiring just a bit more space than the average crossover provides, the new Nissan pathfinder has got your back and then some. The Pathfinder can seat up to seven passengers, including the driver, with a total passenger volume of 154 cubic feet, allowing for flexible leg room and head room no matter which of the three rows you sit in. Access to the second and third rows is made incredibly easy with the standard EZ-Flex® seating system, which allows you to split and fold in the second and third rows with the simple flip of the Latch and Glide® one-touch switch. Cloth seating upholstery is standard fare in base trim levels, but other trims offer special leatherette-appointed seats or perforated leather seats with high-contrast stitching.

Many crossover SUVs, even three-row ones, expect you to sacrifice cargo space for passenger volume, but the Pathfinder provides both with a spacious 16.2 cubic feet of cargo space alone with all of the seats upright. Should you need more space for luggage, lumber, or even the family dog when the time comes to take them to the vet, simply fold in the back seats to free up to 47.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row and a total of 79.5 cubic feet behind the first row.
